National Flower of Belize

A description of the national flower of the country of Belize

The national flower of Belize is the Encyclia Cochleatum, also known as the Black Orchid. It grows on trees all year long in the jungles and other damp areas of Belize. It has greenish-yellow petals and the speals have purple blotches near the base. The lip of the Black Orchid is shaped like a clam shell, and it is colored deep purple-brown with radiating purple veins.
